The School of Sharia at the University of Jordan participates in the 11th Scientific Conference on Sustainable Development at Yarmouk University

As part of efforts to promote the scientific and research presence of the School of Sharia at the University of Jordan at the national and regional levels, Prof. Abdulrahman Ibrahim Zaid Al-Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, participated in the 11th Scientific Conference organized by the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Yarmouk University in cooperation with the Jordanian Scholars Association, entitled:

“Sustainable Development in Islamic Studies: Dimensions, Objectives, and Applications.”

This conference comes in response to global trends calling for the adoption of more just and equitable development policies, and within the framework of reintroducing the concept of sustainable development from a Sharia perspective based on Quranic and maqasid values that established the principles of justice and reform since the mission of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, even though the contemporary term itself was not used at that time.

Professor Al-Kilani chaired one of the conference's scientific sessions, which discussed a number of research papers specializing in maqasid and development issues, presenting a paper that focused on the importance of activating the role of Sharia studies in formulating development policies that achieve social justice, preserve resources, and protect human dignity.

The conference concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the need to deepen the partnership between Sharia colleges and national and international institutions working in the fields of sustainable development, thereby contributing to a real impact on societies in accordance with a vision inspired by Sharia guidance and objectives.
