The Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, in cooperation with the University of Jordan and the Public Security Directorate, organized today, Wednesday 27/11/2024, a discussion seminar on the role of religious and educational institutions in confronting the issue of drugs.
The symposium, which was launched by the Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Dr. Mohammed Al-Khalayleh, and the Director General of the Zakat Fund, Dr. Abdul Samirat, included specialized sessions to enhance knowledge and immunize society from the dangers of the drug issue.
Samirat stressed the importance of partnership and cooperation between various religious, educational and security institutions to address this issue and raise awareness of its dangers to the individual and society, reviewing the legal evidence that indicates the prohibition of drugs, and the role of imams and preachers in raising awareness.
The Director of the Anti-Drugs Department, General Hassan Al-Qudah, said that the Public Security Directorate is keen to cooperate with various ministries and institutions to deliver the awareness message and fight this scourge in all its forms through the Department's work axes in the fields of operations, awareness and treatment, pointing to the most important axes of the National Strategy for Drug Prevention 2024-2026.
The Dean of the School of Sharia at the University of Jordan, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Kilani, pointed out the importance of strong and effective advocacy discourse in achieving the desired change that combines scientific facts and national values.
